Email QR code generator
Create an email QR code that opens the scanner's mail app with the address, subject, and message already filled in. It removes a step for support requests, feedback, and RSVPs.
How to create an email QR code
- Open the Email tab. Choose Email from the type selector to show the recipient, subject, and message fields.
- Add the recipient address. Type the email address that should receive the messages. This is the only required field, and it is validated as you type.
- Add a subject line. Optionally set a subject so replies are easy to sort, for example “Website enquiry” or “Table booking”.
- Write a starting message. Optionally pre fill the body with a short prompt, such as “Hi, I would like to ask about…” to guide the sender.
- Download your code. Check the preview, then download a PNG for screens or an SVG for print. Everything stays on your device.
What happens when someone scans it
An email QR code uses the mailto format. Scanning it launches the default email app with your recipient and any subject or body you added already in place.
The sender still reviews and sends the message themselves. The code never sends mail on its own, so you stay in control of the conversation.
Good places to use an email QR code
Put one on a business card, poster, or product packaging so people can start an email in a single scan. Add it to event signage for RSVPs and to a shop counter for feedback.
A pre filled subject makes triage easy, since all messages from one code arrive with the same label, ready to filter or auto reply.
Guide the message with a subject and body
Only the recipient is required, so you can keep the code as a simple “email us” shortcut. Filling in the subject and body turns it into a guided form that gets better replies.
For support, try a subject like “Support request” and a body that asks for their order number. For sales, prompt them to mention the product they are interested in.
Choose an email code or a contact form
An email code is the fastest option because it needs no page load and works offline. A link to a contact form gives you more structure, validation, and spam protection.
If you want analytics, use a URL code that points at a fewly short link to your form, then track how many people scan and where they come from.
Private and spam resistant by design
The address is encoded in the code itself and assembled in your browser. It is never uploaded, so your email never gets added to a list by this tool.
Consider a dedicated address, like hello@ your domain, to keep personal inboxes clean and to separate enquiries from everything else.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I pre fill the subject line?
- Yes. Add a subject and optional message and they appear in the scanner's mail app, ready to send or edit.
- Which email apps support mailto QR codes?
- Virtually all phone and desktop mail clients understand the mailto format, including Gmail, Apple Mail, and Outlook.
- Is an email QR code free to create?
- Yes. Unlimited email QR codes, no account, and no watermark on the downloaded files.
- Will the code send the email automatically?
- No. It only opens the mail app with the fields filled in. The person scanning it still has to tap send.
- Can I list more than one recipient?
- The form takes a single recipient. To reach a team, use a shared address or an alias that forwards to the right inbox.
- Does an email QR code expire?
- No. It is a static code, so it keeps working for as long as the address exists.
