What is checked
Active links are checked about every 12 hours for 404s and server errors, timeouts, DNS failures and TLS certificate problems. Sites that merely refuse bots count as up.
When you are alerted
A link is marked broken after two failed checks in a row, so one blip doesn't wake anyone. The link owner gets one email per outage, and link.broken and link.recovered webhooks fire.
Fixing a broken link
Point the link at a working page. The short URL and any printed QR code keep working. Use Check now on the link page to re-test immediately.
Turning alerts off
Switch off Broken-link alerts for one link under More options, or stop all of the emails in Settings → Notifications.
